2 people injured in Collier County crash

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Two men were injured in a two-vehicle crash along U.S. 41 and Gulf Park Drive Friday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened at approximately 12:50 p.m.

A 21-year-old Naples man was riding a motorcycle traveling south in the center lane of U.S. 41.

As the motorcyclist approached Gulf Park Drive, an 89-year-old Naples man was driving in a sedan traveling north in the left lane of U.S. 41 and preparing to turn left.

The 89-year-old man then drove directly into the motorcyclist’s path, causing the two to collide head on.

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, according to FHP. The driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
