NAPLES, Fla. — On Tuesday, for the second day in a row, parents and players of Barron Collier High School’s baseball team stood outside of the school district building, waiting for answers.

They want to know if Charlie Maurer will coach their team this year.

Parents said the district signed the field lease for players to practice Tuesday.

But, they may not step on the field if Charlie Maurer can’t coach this year.

The school ended the contract for the head coach.

Parents said they heard it’s because he hired a landscaping company to do work on the field without permission, though the school hasn’t confirmed that.
