Cape Coral man attempts to run over ex-boyfriend at RSW

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Cape Coral man has been arrested after attempting to run over his ex-boyfriend at an RSW parking lot.

The victim reported that he and another person arrived at his vehicle at Southwest Florida International Airport’s short-term parking, only to realize that he had a flat tire.

While attempting to enter the vehicle, the man’s ex-boyfriend, Vitas Sprindys, ran to the passenger side of the car and began assaulting his passenger.

Sprindys would throw the other person into another parked car before throwing him to the ground. Sprindys would then grab the man’s bag and dump the contents out before getting into his vehicle.

As the victim went to retrieve the spilled out contents, Sprindys would accelerate his vehicle and drive right towards his ex-boyfriend. The victim would run away before being struck, but was able to grab a picture of Sprindys vehicle before calling authorities.

Deputies were later able to find Sprindys and arrest him. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and petit larceny.
