Child hit by vehicle on Summerlin Road

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A child was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle near Summerlin Road and Pine Ridge Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident happened at approximately 2:20 p.m.

The 7-year-old Fort Myers girl was standing in the grass median south of the westbound lanes of Summerlin Road. The girl then ran into the path of an Audi Sedan and was knocked to the ground, according to the report.

She was transported to an area hospital in serious condition, according to FHP.

FHP said they are investigating the crash. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) also responded to the scene.
