Collier adoption event looking to find forever homes for nearly 500 animals

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Collier County Domestic Animal Services (DAS) hopes to give a permanent home to cats, kittens, dogs and rabbits in a carnival-themed event in Naples.

The event will take place in DAS at 7610 Davis Boulevard this Friday, Aug. 19 to Aug. 20.

Animal shelters all around the country are facing multiple animal arrivals and fewer adoptions, putting a strain on these facilities. Many rescue groups are now full and unable to give shelter to animals. A permanent solution for this issue is adoption.

“While many shelters across Florida have sadly had to close their intake doors, at Collier County DAS we have been lucky to not have had to make that heartbreaking decision but that is only thanks to continued adoptions by our pet-loving community,” said DAS.

All adoptions are $10 during the event and throughout August. Each animal is spayed or neutered, has vaccinations against rabies and is microchipped.

The event will feature food, games, prizes and the opportunity to meet and possibly take home a new buddy.
