FHP trooper injured in crash on Cape Coral Bridge


CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper was injured in a crash while investigating a single-vehicle crash on the Cape Coral Bridge Sunday morning.

According to FHP, at around 7 a.m. the trooper was waiting for a tow truck when a pickup truck veered off of the right lane to avoid slow traffic. The truck crashed into the trooper from behind while he was in his vehicle.

The collision caused the trooper’s vehicle to hit the back of the vehicle involved in the original crash, FHP said.

According to the report, the trooper was injured and taken to the hospital. The driver involved in the original single-vehicle crash was also taken to the hospital.

This crash is an active investigation.
