FORT MYERS, Fla. – Even as a quarter century passed, Candy Pemberton never forgot Cally, Caitlyn, and Colton Servick. The siblings, who were all born premature, left a lasting impact on the NICU nurse who cared for them.

Although Cally doesn’t remember her time in the hospital, the experience helped shape the career path she would eventually take.

“Growing up, I knew I wanted to have that kind of impact on someone,” Cally said.

This summer, Cally returned to see Candy again – but this time as a co-worker. She is now a NICU nurse herself.

“It makes you realize how you impact lives and what these babies can become,” Candy said.

She’s only a few weeks on the job, but Cally believes she found her place. She’s now training with the nurses who once were caring for her.

“I aspire to be even half the nurses they are,” Cally said. “And to give that much of an impact to someone is my goal.”
