Fort Myers man arrested for Tampa apartment homicide


FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Fort Myers man has been arrested in connection to a homicide at a Tampa apartment complex.

The Fort Myers Police Department announced the arrest of Demon Jamaol Speed on a first degree homicide warrant out of Hillsborough County. The United State Marshall Service also played a roll in the apprehension of Speed.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Speed was wanted in connection to the murder of Ari Williams at the IQ Apartments in Tampa on July 22nd.

Speed had been facing charges of premeditated murder and additional gun charges.

Demon Speed becomes the second person from Lee County to be arrest in connection to the murder. On August 4th, US Marshalls arrested Darren Day of Lehigh Acres for his involvement in the homicide.

Deputies do not believe the shooting was random and feel the victim may have known Speed or Day.


According to WFLA, social media might have played a role in the shooting after Williams, who performed as a rapper known as Rollie Bands, posted a message on Instagram that addressed multiple people. Shortly after, he was murdered.

Demon Speed is currently in the Lee County Jail.
