Every Friday, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers shares information on four fugitives authorities need help finding.
Anyone with information on these four is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.
1. James Brown – a repeat offender with an extensive history of violence
2. Virginia Chajson – accused of stealing more than $15,000 in jewelry and guns from a friend
3. Alex Flores – a Lehigh Acres man on the run for lewd & lascivious behavior on a 12 year old girl
4. Zeke Smith – wanted in Lee County for breaking into and damaging a Matlacha business
We’re starting off our list this week with a guy whose violent and reckless behavior has been a pattern for nearly half of his entire life. A brand new warrant for the arrest of James Brown was issued earlier this week, after he violated terms of his community control following an arrest for fleeing and eluding officers and the possession of cocaine. Officers say Brown led police on a high speed chase, weaving in and out of residential neighborhoods, and putting numerous people in danger. He eventually dumped the car and fled on foot… but didn’t get too far before he was cuffed and stuffed into the backseat of a patrol car and given a ride to the downtown jail. Although he’s only 28 years old, Brown has an extensive criminal history dating back to age 15, when he was busted on his first felonies for burglary and weapons charges. He’s also spent time behind bars for aggravated battery, assault, drugs, racketeering, hit and run and even an instance where he was accused of shooting into a car, injuring three women in the process. Brown was last known to be living in Lehigh and is known on the streets as Soulja Creep and Baby James. He is 5’5”, 160 pounds and upon his arrest, he will be held without bond.
Next up is a woman who betrayed the trust of a friend who was kind enough to provide her a place to hang her hat for the night. Detectives say Virginia Chajson went fishing with a friend and was invited to spend the night after a day on the water. But when the victim woke up thenext day, she found more than $15,000 worth of jewelry, credit cards and guns missing from the home. When officers questioned Chajson about her involvement, she was found to still be in possession of the stolen goods, which promptly landed her some new accommodations at the Lee County Jail. She was later released and placed on state supervision, which she violated last week. To date, this Alva absconder has 16 bookings in Lee and Glades Counties on charges of drugs, grand theft, fraudulent use of ID and credit cards, battery and filing a false report. She is 5’1”, 160 pounds, with several tattoos, including two teardrops and a cross on her face, a pitbull on her right arm, the word “outlaw” scripted on her chest and “Sinner” with a cross inked on her right leg.
Also on the run this week is the newest addition to Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted list. Alex Flores is currently on the lam amid accusations of lewd and lascivious battery committed on a young girl who is literally half his age. Detectives say Flores stood accused of having sexual relations with a 12 year old girl. When questioned by officers, Flores admitted to the repeated acts, stating that he knew exactly how old she was, but that he kept up the illegal behavior for roughly two months because he really liked the girl. His poor judgement landed him in jail for several days, before being released pending his next court hearing. However just a short time later, a judge rescinded that release and issued a new warrant remanding him back to the confines of incarceration. 24 year old Flores is 6’1”, 160 pounds and was last known to be living in Lehigh Acres.
And rounding out our list this final Friday of August is a guy who has spent the last two decades living a life of violence and theft. Zeke Smith finds himself back on law enforcement’s radar this week after he violated probation following his most recent arrest for breaking into a restaurant in Matlacha. According to detectives, cameras perched around the business captured crystal clear images of Smith stealing items from the property and causing several hundred dollars in damage. When confronted with the evidence, Smith feigned any knowledge of the crime and said he was just in the area to do a little fishing. This Cape Coral crook has spent a lifetime thumbing his nose at the law, with 22 bookings on a collection of charges to include domestic violence by strangulation, burglary, grand theft, contempt and fraud, among other crimes. He is a registered convicted felon who also has ties on Fort Myers Beach. He is 5’11”, 160 pounds and upon his arrest, he will be held without bond.
