ESTERO, Fla. – Hertz Arena is going cashless for parking starting today when people come to the Dierks Bently concert.
Arena officials are encouraging credit card usage or tap to pay with Apple or Android Pay when arriving at the venue for events.
The move was prompted as the concert and sports venue has see a majority of its customer base complain that there were not other forms of payment for at parking, a spokesperson told NBC 2.
Hertz Arena officials say the experience should speed up the entry process and cut time with faster equipment and venue staff not having to make change or count cash.
For those still wanting to pay in only cash, venue officials say Miromar Outlets has offered offsite parking for those attending events at the arena.
Cash and credit are also still accepted inside Hertz Arena for events.
Many businesses have gone cashless, especially with the COVID-19 Pandemic. People NBC 2 spoke with say its easier.
“I absolutely love cashless,” said Susan Burnham. “We went to the Everblades championship games and yes we went through the cashless, everything cashless.”
Hertz Arena is located off of Interstate 75 at the Corkscrew Rd. The venue has 2,000 parking spaces within a short walking distance to the arena. Officials expect the parking lot to open two hours before an event’s scheduled time.
