Lehigh Acres man dies in crash near Lee Boulevard

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 65-year-old Lehigh Acres man died in a two-vehicle crash near Lee Boulevard and Hanna Avenue.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened Wednesday morning at approximately 11:45 a.m.

The Lehigh Acres man was driving east on Lee Boulevard in the lane next to the second vehicle involved, which was driven by a 62-year-old Lehigh Acres woman. The man then swerved left causing the front of his vehicle to collide with the right rear of the woman’s vehicle, according to FHP.

The man’s vehicle then was redirected right, later colliding with a curb and a sign. He was taken to Lehigh Regional Hospital and later pronounced dead, FHP said.

The Lehigh Acres woman and a 16-year-old Lehigh Acres girl, who was a passenger in her vehicle, suffered no injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
