Lehigh Acres man sentenced to over 4 years in prison for firearm possession

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Lehigh Acres man will spend nearly five years in prison for possession a firearm as a convicted felon.

Romeo Lenell Battle was sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison after pleading guilty to the charge in April.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute involving a firearm on April 22nd, 2021. Battle, a convicted felon and on probation, was in the home when deputies arrived.

While searching the residence, deputies discovered a loaded Glock handgun hidden under a bed. DNA evidence from the firearm was later linked to Battle following analysis.

As a convicted felon, Battle was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.

As part of his sentencing, Battle was ordered to forfeit the firearm and ammunition used in the offense.
