Lehigh Acres teen caught hiding in closet during burglary

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A Lehigh Acres teenager has been arrested after he was caught hiding in a residence during a burglary.

A resident was checking on the progress of work being done on a Lehigh Acres duplex when he noticed the front door had been opened. After going inside, he found a backpack in the living room and immediately contacted law enforcement, fearing someone could still be inside the unoccupied home.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and noticed that the front door showed signs of forced entry on the lock and door jam.

During an inspection of the home, deputies found 18-year-old Bryan Miranda Gonzalez Vasquez hiding in a hallway closet.

A search of Vasquez ensued, where deputies found a pipe used to smoke methamphetamines. Deputies also retrieved a flathead screwdriver, used to break into the home, “protruding from his rectum”, according to the arrest report.

A bag belonging to Vasquez was also searched, which yielded the discovery of a baggie containing a crystal-like substance, later revealed to be methamphetamine.

Vasquez was arrested, where he faces multiple charges, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, and drug possession.
