New St. Matthew’s House warehouse gives out groceries to families in need

NAPLES, Fla. — The St. Matthew’s House is in week one of their new warehouse and House Choice Market. This is all located at 4535 Domestic Avenue in Naples. For families in need you can go to the choice market and get up to $160 worth of groceries. It is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.

The organization has partnered with The Church Latter Day Saints after they say church blessed them a massive donation of 26 pallets of food and household products. The donation included: pasta, jam, laundry detergent, etc. That’s not all they donated though, the church also gave the organization a new $50,000 freezer to the organizations new warehouse.

“The warehouse it’s such a big part of it where we continue to fuel these distributions. We do 3-4 distributions every week at 13 different sites, Steve Brooder said.

This new food warehouse will also serve as an Emergency Distribution Center for food, supplies, water and other items in the case of a hurricane or any other natural disaster.

St. Matthew’s House CEO Steve Brooder said with food insecurity and inflation increasing he’s seen first hand how this can help the community.

“Our distributions have just continued to climb from 4,000 back at the start of Covid to over 25,000 families served in a month,” Brooder said.

“The choice pantry that we are standing in will probably help 150 additional families every week so we want people to reach out, look at our website, give us a call, make an appointment and come by for the choice pantry and really shop for what they need in their household.”

You must make an appointment before you go. The organization allows 15 minutes for one to shop.
