NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Deputies found a 6-year-old crying outside his home on Saturday.
The victim stated that he didn’t know where his father was and had left his house because he was hungry.
When deputies responded to the victim’s home, they noticed there was no one home. Two hours later, deputies detained Benjamin Pec Tziboy for further investigation.
The Department of Children and Families and Child Protector Investigator Julia Suarez responded to the scene. CPI Suarez learned that Benjamin had left in the morning and told the victim he will return in an hour.
“Benjamin leaves the child home alone regularly and returns once it is dark,” the report read.
The child also mentioned he was scared of being hit with the belt for leaving his home.
There was no evidence of injuries or malnutrition. CPI Suarez advised a safety plan and took custody of the victim.
The investigation determined that Benjamin willingly left the victim alone for 5 hours and failed to assure supervision. He was arrested for neglect of a child.
Neighbors we spoke to said they are not surprised.
They have seen this child running alone into the busy road next to the house, chasing after a dog. Luckily both were ok.
