San Carlos Park family loses home to fire, catches teens stealing from back yard

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — On Sunday, a group of four teenagers were caught on camera stealing things from a home on Iris Drive in San Carlos Park.

It’s a home you may have seen on NBC2 back in June when we showed you how the family lost all but one of their pets from the blaze.

“It has been a very emotional time for us,” said Shawna Taylor-Langley.

The family of six lost their home to the fire and have since been living in a hotel while they wait for insurance to help pay for the damages.

“Then we see the pictures when we aren’t even living in the house and it’s just frustrating,” said Langley.

The family says that the teens took off with bikes and a few other items from the backyard.

“I think they tried to take a few other things like our go-cart that we obviously can’t put in the storage building but I imagine they couldn’t get it to start,” said Langley.

Langley says the family filed a report with LCSO.
