CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A single car crash resulted in two deaths and one seriously injured Wednesday night.
The accident took place on northbound Interstate 75 and Tuckers Grade Road at around 9:00 p.m.
The driver, a 39-year-old man from Port Charlotte, was driving at high speed before losing control and entered the grass shoulder. The vehicle, a sedan, rotated and collided with a tree before it became engulfed in flames.
The motor was separated and found approximately 20 feet north of where the vehicle was located.
The driver and a 16-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger, a 35-year-old Punta Gorda man, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
