Tesla to open regional repair facility in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Tesla, the electric automobile manufacturer, has reached an agreement to open a new regional repair facility in Fort Myers.

The company signed a 10-year lease for 44,800 square feet of industrial space at the Gulfcoast Industrial Campus located at 16180 Lee Rd, Fort Myers, just off Alico Road.

2021 numbers show Florida is second in the country for electric vehicle ownership with more than 95,000 owners, right behind California.

Florida has become a leader in electric vehicles. According to Electrek, The Sunshine State only trails California when it comes to electric vehicle ownership with approximately 54 percent of those vehicles being Tesla models.

According to a Tesla watchdog site, Tesla is employing nearly 100,000 people across its facilities nationwide, which is a 40 percent increase in the company’s workforce from last year.

It becomes the second official Tesla service center on Florida’s west coast joining the facility in Sarasota. The Fort Myers location is being built to service Tesla owners in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte County.

“I’m glad, we need more. Because the amount of time that they spend fixing a car takes a little bit longer,” says Tesla driver Jairo Quijano.

The new facility is about 15 minutes south of the Tesla dealership at the corner of Colonial Blvd and Ortiz Avenue.
