NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – A bold smash and grab overnight at a Lee County High School left a vending machine broken.

Lee County Sheriffs Deputies say a group hopped a fence at North Fort Myers High School to vandalize a vending machine, making off with the snacks inside.

The heist happened at around 2:30am on Monday morning, deputies say the thieves used a golf club to smash open the vending machine, just before a district wide open house.

The district said the vandals were likely students of the school, having known where the machine was on campus. On Monday it had been moved out of sight.

The Sheriffs Office confirmed that there is video of the incident. NBC-2 is working to obtain it.
